Education gives a child the scope of flourish mentally, socially, emotionally and intellectually. It is really true that education is the basic and fundamental right for all but it is a very hard truth that the children who live in the slums are often denied their rights of getting education. In India 5.1% of India's population who live in slums and rural slums are facing difficulties to receive education, and this is a matter of concern.

Slum Children Deserve a Dignified Life:

Every child are blessed with their unique skills and potential, if they get the scope of learning and get the effective education the children will flourish which is required for the progress and empowerment of the society and with the growth of the society is the most essential thing for the progress of a country. The children who belong from the slums face several serious challenges. They grow up under the dark shadow of poverty and struggle for their existence. The children of slums do really face various tough challenges and these challenges really hinder their growth.

Education is a challenge for the children who belong from the slums. They are denied the fundamental rights, which they really deserve, they are denied education, they are denied nutrition and also they are denied health care. Like other children they also have the potential and skills but they are not getting education. They face severe poverty, they are used to facing hunger, and education is like a dream to these children. The dark shadow of poverty is hindering their growth or we can say the quality of living standards.

The schools in the slum areas are underdeveloped and the standard of education which is offered to the children of the slums are not up to the mark. How can a child make progress if inadequate learning facilities are provided to them! It is impossible for poor families of slums to afford the cost of a quality school so the number of enrollment is coming down among the slum children.

The teachers who are appointed to teach in these areas are Inadequately trained or unskilled, these guys make the situation worse. The prominent presence of educators are needed in these areas who have the ability to understand the challenges the children face. In these areas the child’s physics and emotional needs are very often overlooked. Teachers who are engaged in these areas are under qualified and they are making things harder for the children to get quality education, these children are deprived from getting their basic rights.

There is a very crucial need of teaching them the basic healthcare and hygiene practices these are important in order to prevent illness.

The Suffering of Slum Children Must End:

Education is the most important and utility tool that has the power to transform human lives. One educated child can become an influence for a community and a huge number of children. We must provide support to them. It is a really painful and heartbreaking thing, the demolition of an open school that was run on the street under a flyover. The school was located at Mayur Vihar Delhi, and this incident took place in the year of 2023. This incident clearly shows the obstacles and challenges that the children of our country face. The school was run by an individual and in fact was providing quality education to almost 200 children, the children used to come from the nearby slums for learning. With the loss of the school the children lost their future with the loss of their school.

A Dignified Future for Slum Children:

Each and every child has the right to live a dignified life. The children must get the chance to learn because education is their basic right. So the children must be provided with the opportunity to learn and become self established and each and every child must get a chance to live a dignified life with education. Many foundations are working on this mission. Smile Foundation plays a crucial role in the field of education, by providing the children who belong from the slums adequate opportunity of learning through the Mission Education. This mission ensures that the children are getting education which is their basic right. The slum children also deserve their rights of education, the local government must give attention to this segment and make sure that each and every child belonging from slum must get education and a dignified life that ensures a dignified future.
